Lynford Arboretum January 2017

Our first bird watching meeting of 2017 was at Lynford Arboretum, organised by Sally Rands and Beryl Naylor. The weather was cold and eventually wet, but we did manage to see 29 species of bird before we had lunch at Brown's Cafe at Munford. Several of our group were abroad or ill, never the less a productive visit with Nuthatch, Marsh tit, Goosander and Goldeneye being the star birds. Twenty nine species identified. Photos Page 2.

We were pleased to welcome Fred and Sheila Hawthorne to the group. They are both keen photographers and bird watchers so should enhance our interest and expertise.

Fast low flying (2-4m) brown bird ( height not size of bird!!) flying and navigating through the trees after a siskin protest, kestrel sized, could have been a sparrow hawk.
