Thursday Walks with Interest
Due to the current Covid 19 restrictions our scheduled walks are suspended.
So that walks can safely resume as soon as restrictions allow it is possible that the number of walkers at any one time may be limited to enable social distancing as was in place at the end of last year.
Once walks can resume again a Programme of Walks will be published.
A Friendly walking group normally meeting on the 1st Thursday of each Month for a 4.5 to 5.5 mile walk from various locations in the area.
Each walk is led by a member of the group meeting at an arranged meeting point, often a Pub or Village Car Park to enable a 10.00 am start. The aim of the walks is to point out items of interest of the area, those that we may see or of historical interest.
The walks for the year appear on the Thursday Walks with Interest Programme that appears on the Blackbourne U3A Wed-Site where the Walk Leaders and individual meeting points are listed giving the map reference and post code wherever possible.
Members of the group should be fit enough to walk up to 5.5 miles over varying terrain that may include roads and footpaths in towns, villages, woodland and open countryside. This may entail crossing stiles and simple foot bridges crossing ditches and streams.
Walkers must be aware when walking on roads and observe the Highway Code.
Appropriate clothing including suitable footwear should be worn for walking in the countryside allowing for possible changing weather conditions.
